Membership Information

The Forest Hills Neighborhood Association was established in 1978 by a declaration filed with the Secretary of State. The stated purpose of the Association is "to promote and protect the vitality, desirability and attractiveness of the Forest Hills area" It also aims "to promote a high level of neighborhood awareness, concern and community spirit by: informing the residents of all matters affecting the common interest; by organizing and monitoring interest; by organizing and conducting social activities for the residents; and by organizing an sponsoring activities to preserve and enhance the vitality, desirability and attractiveness of the neighborhood.

Consistent with the original purposes, the Neighborhood Association holds meetings several times a year, at which time issues of special interest are discussed. Officers of the Neighborhood Association are elected at the annual meeting. Ad hoc committees are charged with welcoming newcomers, distributing meeting notices, planning social events, and considering topical issues.

The Neighborhood Association traditionally sponsors several social events each year. They are:
  • Easter Egg Hunt, Spring
  • Wine and Cheese Party, late Spring
  • Covered-dish Supper, Fall
The Association also promotes the annual "Lights of Forest Hills" at Christmas time. Residents install Christmas trees along the streets and light them during streets and light them during the evening hours of the holiday season. The lighted trees are spectacular.

Annual dues of $25.00 per household support the Neighborhood Association.  Membership is voluntary and open to all residents of the area bounded by Manning Avenue, Forest Drive, Glenwood Road, Trenholm Road and Gervais Street. Dues can be paid at any time to the Treasurer, Pam Kirkland.
